City Hall Role

Janice is playing an active role in the South Winnipeg-St. Norbert Ward and at City Hall.

Riel Community Committee

Janice represents the South Winnipeg-St. Norbert Ward and serves on the Riel Community Committee (RCC) with neighbouring Councillors of both the St. Vital and St. Boniface wards. City Council

As an elected representative, Janice represents the South Winnipeg-St. Norbert ward on City Council as well as in her roles on Standing Policy Committees.  Winnipeg’s City Council meets monthly, and meetings can be attended by the public, or viewed on your computer through a live stream.  To see an upcoming meeting agenda, visit Agenda.

Standing Policy Committee on Finance (2015-present)

Partnership of the Manitoba Capital Region (2014-present)

Appointed by Mayor Bowman, Janice serves as Co-Chair of the Partnership of the Manitoba Capital Region (PMCR).  PMCR works to develop a competitive, economically strong Capital Region by building strong civic leadership in the Capital Region, strengthening working relationships, creating awareness of Capital Region issues and concerns, and resolving issues.

Acting Deputy Mayor (2014-2016)

Janice serves as Acting Deputy Mayor for the City of Winnipeg.  When the Mayor and the Deputy Mayor are both absent or unavailable for any reason, the Acting Deputy Mayor shall perform the duties and functions, and may exercise the powers of the Mayor.   A complete list of role responsibilities can be found in section 59(6) of the City of Winnipeg Charter.

Chair, Standing Policy Committee of Infrastructure Renewal & Public Works (2014-2016)

Janice serves as Chair of the Standing Policy Committee on Infrastructure Renewal and Public Works.  This Committee is responsible for the Transit and Public Works departments.   A list of role responsibilities can be found in section 63 of the City of Winnipeg Charter.  The Standing Policy Committee on Infrastructure Renewal and Public Works meets monthly, and meetings can be attended by the public, or viewed on your computer through a live stream. Executive Policy Committee (2014-2016)

As Chair of the Standing Policy Committee of Infrastructure Renewal and Public Works, Janice is automatically a member of the Executive Policy Committee (EPC). A list of responsibilities can be found in section 61 of the City of Winnipeg Charter.  Mayor Bowman serves as Chair of EPC which meets 4-6 times monthly for report briefings, and 2-3 times for public meetings in the West Committee Room.  Meetings can also be viewed on your computer through a live stream.
