New Report on Health of Bridgwater Forest
Date: Thursday, February 15th
Time: 7:00 – 8:30pm
Location: Waverley Heights Community Centre, 1885 Chancellor Dr (meet in the Sunroom)
City Staff will be discussing this report and we will develop a plan of action to begin a longterm care plan for Bridgwater Forest.
Background: On June 27th, 2017, I held an Information Evening on the Health of Bridgwater Forest for area residents. City Naturalist, Rodney Penner, and South Winnipeg Parks Supervisor, Kyle Lucyk, were in attendance to provide expert insight on some of the challenges the forest is facing. In Bridgwater Forest, three main issues have been identified to be causing stress:
- Poorly designed area drainage
- Excessive sump pump run off
- Dumping of organics
Residents in attendance and myself asked City staff to conduct an assessment of the health of the forest and report back to the community. The report is now complete and we will review and put an action plan into gear! I look forward to seeing everyone who enjoys Bridgwater Forest!
