Dear Friends!*

Welcome to my ‘Fall’ newsletter, and please feel free to share widely. There is lots going on:  I’ve included my ‘Year in Review’ since being elected, and some valuable information on events in our ward! Thank you for your interest in South Winnipeg–St. Norbert Ward activities!

1. Year In Review

What a difference a year can make!  I've taken some time to put pen to paper, and reflect upon my first year in office.  It's truly been an extraordinary opportunity, and I hope this summary will provide some insight into the comings and goings at City Hall.  Visit Welcome to My Year in Review.

2. September & October Ward Activities

I recently hosted a public consultation to gather feedback on improvements to La Barrière Park, as well as an open house on proposed upgrades for King's Park.  If you were unable to attend but would like to comment, please E-Mail jukes@winnipeg.ca with your feedback.

In October, there are many events in our ward!  I invite you to learn about the Dakota Community Centre's expansion; attend an information evening for the Brady Road Landfill and new Recycling Depot; or participate in meetings of the newly formed residential advisory groups for Bridgwater Lakes and South Pointe. Details are at Upcoming Events.

3.  Rental Housing in South Winnipeg

On September 30, I hosted the 2nd community meeting on this important issue in our ward.  Progress is being made, and there's a good synopsis on my website of the meeting's presentations and reports, along with the next steps being taken on this issue.  Visit Community Update on Sept. 30

4. City of Winnipeg 2016 Budget

Discussions and planning for the City of Winnipeg's 2016 budget are underway. With a projected deficit of $73 million, it will be a very challenging budget. I encourage you to read Appendix 1 of the just released Winnipeg Community Trends and Performance report. It is a fascinating overview of the City’s current financial situation. Visit 2016 Budget.
