Dear Friends!*

This past month has been a busy one in the South Winnipeg-St. Norbert ward, and this newsletter contains just some of the highlights!  Please check my website for in-depth information on ward priorities, and follow me on Facebook and Twitter for weekly updates!

As I reflect back on the year, I’m pleased with the work we have accomplished working together! The role of area Councillor is challenging, fascinating, interesting and very rewarding. I look forward to 2016 with even more enthusiasm, insight and knowledge!  From my family to yours, warm holiday wishes and a very Happy and Prosperous New Year!

1. Ward Priorities

I’ve been working with both residents and businesses within the 12 distinct communities of South Winnipeg-St. Norbert on key priorities in the Ward.  I encourage you to review all the Ward Priorities, and take a look at some great progress on Rental Housing, South Winnipeg Recreation Campus, and Park priorities.  Big challenges, but excellent progress on all fronts!

2. City Snow Clearing

Winnipeggers are passionate about their snow clearing! I have created a simplified overview of Winnipeg's parking bans and snow/ice removal details. I encourage you to check out the Snow page on my website to learn more, and see maps specific to the South Winnipeg-St. Norbert Ward for street and sidewalk cleaning priorities as well as snow zones. Removing snow can be complex, and this page aims to provide clear communication on the process.

3.  Holidays Hours & Free Indoor Public Skating

The South Winnipeg-St.Norbert ward office will close on Thursday, Dec. 24 and re-open on Monday, Jan. 4, 2016.  The Ward Manager of Operations, Bev, and I will be taking time to recharge over the holidays!  If you have an urgent issue or time-sensitive service request, please contact 311.  For a list of City services during the holidays, see Holiday Hours.  And for a real treat courtesy of the Dakota Community Centre, enjoy some Free Indoor Public Skating over the holidays!

4. Transportation Conversations with the Chair of Infrastructure Renewal and Public Works

Starting in January, 2016, I will be hosting a series of six ‘Transportation Conversations with the Chair’ at 12 noon on the 3rd Thursday of each month!  From January to June, these casual conversations over lunch will focus on relevant transportation topics in Winnipeg.  Let's pull together a couple of tables at The Forks (Centre Food Court) and talk transportation! For details, see Transportation Conversations.
