Hello All!*

Spring is here, and lots is happening in the South Winnipeg–St. Norbert ward!  You can always check the EVENTS page on my website to keep current on what's going on!  In this newsletter, I’ve included some significant events and activities that are of interest to many in the ward.

Please watch my May newsletter for a profile on the elected Provincial MLAs in our area, their commitment to our ward, and how we will be working together over the coming years.

1. April 21st Open House: 2-Year Rehabilitation of Road and Bike Path on Pembina Highway

Learn more about the $11.7 Million 2-year investment into Pembina Highway.  This project, between Arbuthnot and Osborne, will encompass both the North and South bound lanes and installation of a bike corridor.  Attend the Open House this Thursday, April 21 at the River and Osborne Community Centre.  SEE DETAILS

2. April 28th Community Forum on Public Safety

Join me for information on what types of crime are occurring in the South Winnipeg-St. Norbert ward.  Learn how to proactively protect your property, and increase safety in your community. The Winnipeg Police Service will present insight into community crime protection on April 28.  SEE DETAILS

3.  April and May - Annual Spring Clean-ups

On April 17, Winnipeg launched its city-wide spring clean-up of streets, parks and sidewalks SEE DETAILS.   For those residents eager to begin their own yard clean-ups, curbside yard waste collection commences on April 18  SEE DETAILS.

In May, community clean-ups organized by local neighbourhood associations are being held in Bridgwater Forest and Bridgwater Lakes!   If you're going for a walk on your street, please considering taking a garbage bag and lend a helping hand in the clean-up!

4.  May 31st Update on Rental Property Issues

Significant progress has been occurring over the winter, thanks to volunteer members of the Fort Richmond-University Heights Rental Association.  As summer and early fall is "prime time" for rental property issues, the May 31 meeting will outline the NEW tools and resources created for residents. Updates will be provided on the street inventory initiative, tax evasion, reporting, and education initiatives. 5. June 13th Update on New Recreation Campus

Mark June 13 on your calendar so you can attend the South Winnipeg Community Centre’s Annual General Meeting to hear an update on the new and much needed recreation campus. Work is occurring weekly on this project and a complete update will be presented. SEE DETAILS
