Dear Friends!*

I am now well into the routine of sending out a monthly newsletter, and encourage you to share this communique with family and friends living in the St. Norbert Ward!  These E-Newsletters contain highlights about community meetings, local projects, events and more.  Full details are at JaniceLukes.ca

1. YOUR INVITATION:  Transportation & Parks Open House on Tuesday, May 5

A reminder about this event which takes place next week! This is your opportunity to talk to the experts who help plan our streets and parks!  As I embark on my 4-year term as your City Councillor, I would like clear direction on your priorities related to our transportation network and parks infrastructure.  For more details, visit May 5 Open House.

2. My Office at City Hall

Regrettably, the funding provided to City Councillors only allows for one office at City Hall (510 Main Street) and does not allow for another office within the Ward.  I know that City Hall is not as convenient, so to ensure you are well informed, we have developed a website www.JaniceLukes.ca; post regularly to Twitter (@JaniceLukes) and Facebook (CouncillorJaniceLukes); and write a monthly article for The Sou’Wester and Lance community newspapers. To contact me, phone or E-mail:  Janice Lukes

3.  Local Street Upgrades and Renewals

Is your street or back lane scheduled for construction this summer?  As part of the 2015 Capital Budget, we have multiple streets in the St. Norbert Ward approved for funding.  For details, please visit Summer Construction.

4. Update on Rental Housing Challenges

Much progress is being made on the challenges we are facing with illegal and poorly kept rental housing in our community.  I know that for some of you, the progress is not occurring fast enough; but, more is being done now than ever before.  For the latest update, visit Rental Housing

5. Waverley West Recreational Campus

South Winnipeg is one of the fastest growing areas in Winnipeg!   I am working with many stakeholders toward developing a ‘regional recreational campus’ in the Waverley West community. For details on this very important initiative, visit Waverley West Recreational Campus.

6. Events at Investors Group Field Stadium

I have added a new page to my website so that you can easily find information on activities occurring at the Stadium.  The year 2015 is a big one for the Stadium as it will be host to the FIFA Women’s World Cup, the Grey Cup, concerts and more!  Please check IGF Stadium regularly for updates.

Wondering what's going on in the ward?  Check my website to learn about upcoming Spring clean-ups in the community, opening day of the St. Norbert Farmers' Market, the Acadia Junior High/Fort Richmond Collegiate Spring Fling, and a Town Hall on Winnipeg's action plan for dealing with Black Knot on trees in our urban forest.  Get all the details at Upcoming Events.
