This Special Bulletin is specifically directed to assist residents who are facing challenges with neglected and unkempt residential properties in the vicinity of the University of Manitoba campus.

1. Neglected Residential Properties

A number of homes in South Winnipeg are owned by absentee landlords who, unfortunately, are not performing regular maintenance on their properties.Through its Neighbourhood Liveability By-Law, the City has the legal ability to ENFORCE compliance with By-Law regulations on these properties.  For details, visit Neglected Properties.

2.  A MUST Read:  Community Taking Action on Rental Housing

The community of Stony Brook, NY is experiencing the nearly identical housing problem which University Heights and Fort Richmond are facing:  unsafe student housing, illegal rental homes, absent landlords, neglected properties and more. I encourage you to to visit Community Takes Action to learn how Stony Brook has mobilized to maintain the character of its community.
