2019 Construction of Sidewalks, Bike Paths, Studies & More
Winnipeg’s 2019 Active Transportation Plan provides a detailed overview of projects for the 2019 construction season, as well as projects proposed for 2020, and beyond. The plan is developed with extensive consultation with stakeholders and departments. This is now the third time the City’s put together such a comprehensive action plan, based on Winnipeg’s Pedestrian and Cycling Strategies. As they say – we’ve come a long way!.
Discover the many cycling and walking paths by picking up a City of Winnipeg Bike Map The maps can be picked up FREE at any bike shop (close by – U of M Bike Kiosk and Alter Ego Sports on Pembina) and at the Pembina Trails Library! A pdf version of the map is available in French and English on the City’s website at winnipeg.ca/bikemap, along with informative and helpful links and cycling infrastructure definitions.
I encourage you to register your bike! The Winnipeg Police Service retrieves hundreds of bikes that end up at the annual public auction which weren’t registered. Register your bike’s serial number to increase the chance of it being returned to you! To register your bike online, or for more information, please visit: winnipeg.ca/bikeregistry.
