UPDATE – MORE OPEN HOUSES:

The city is hosting 5 additional open houses for residents to discuss proposed zoning changes. I will be attending the open house at the Outlet Collection Mall from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm.

Zoning changes to accommodate increased affordable housing – your feedback is invited !

Winnipeg needs more affordable housing. The Federal government is providing money to cities to build more housing, upgrade sewer treatment plants, & improve transit – if cities commit to making it easier to build more housing.

To make it easier to build homes, Winnipeg is recommending zoning changes & stringent design guidelines to build two-unit, three-unit, and four-unit homes in many neighbourhoods.

WAVERLEY WEST WARD

How will zoning changes impact our neighbourhoods in the Waverley West ward?

Southwest Winnipeg has many new homes built on smaller lots which optimize land use. There are some larger lots & older homes in the Waverley Heights & University Heights neighbourhoods where some of the very old homes could be replaced with either two or three or four unit homes – IF the lot is large enough & the house meets the required design guidelines.
