Important Update on Transit Service to Pembina Trails Collegiate (PTC) and Bison Run School (BRS grades7/8)

Please note: Effective Monday October 2nd the return bus will now be picking up in the bus loop between the two schools.
September 22, 2023
I have heard from many concerned parents over issues with the bus service to PTC. Thank you for your feedback and patience, I have great news to share.
A second bus will be added as of Monday September 25th to service the highest traffic part of the route. It will begin at Castlebrook and Windflower and continue on the same route to PTC and BRS. This new bus will run approximately 5 minutes ahead of the original route – times and map of the new bus are featured – details for both buses can be found here.
Winnipeg Transit has been working with the Pembina Trails School Division on the PTC routes and number of riders for months. Yesterday, we became aware that many students in grade 7/8 from Bison Run are also using this bus as they are no longer included in free busing by PTSD. This has skewed our numbers, resulting in the over capacity of the initial bus. Now that we are aware of this need for the grade 7/8 students attending Bison Run, we feel that by adding the second bus we will be able to accommodate all students. We realize that while the weather is nice and many are riding bikes, this may bump up the number of riders come winter. Please continue to keep me informed if issues come up. We will not have access to a larger articulating bus until the city takes delivery of new buses from January to June 2024.
South Pointe students
As you are aware, the S443 PTC bus does not enter South Pointe, rather the students connect to this route in Prairie Point via routes 671 & 672. South Pointe is the oldest of the new neighbourhoods in the Waverley West ward and has existing transit routes that cover most of the area with about a 10 minute walk to a stop. Although it does mean transferring from either the 671 or 672 once the bus crosses over to Waverley and Eaglewood, we feel that this is still the best option to keep the bus route time as short as possible. South Pointe students also have the option to take the 671/672 routes in the other direction, connecting with the Blue Line and transferring to the S443 in Bridgwater Town Centre.
Bison Run grades 7/8
These students have the option to apply for the PTSD busing – there is an annual fee to do this. Please contact the PTSD Transportation department for more information.
Students can also ride the new S443 bus – the first – limited stop route will get the kids to the school by 8:13 – the second bus by 8:18
Regular student Transit Fares apply
Navigo
The maps for Navigo are updated annually and many new streets are not registering properly in Navigo. We recommend that you use the maps provided on the PTSD site for routes and stops. Transit is working on updating Navigo.
