Widening of Waverley – Between Kenaston & Ken Oblik/Eaglewood Dr.
As noted in previous updates, ~30 acres in the southwest quadrant at Kenaston and Waverley was subdivided and rezoned into residential small, two family and multi family large lots in February 2024.* To accommodate this increase in population and development, Waverley (between Kenaston & Ken Oblik/Eaglewood Drive) is being widened to two lanes in each direction. An additional lane will be added to the roundabout.
- Construction of the lane widening on Waverley and the roundabout is anticipated to occur in 2026.
- In addition, a 3.5 metre multi-use pathway will also be constructed along the west side of Kenaston. This pathway will connect into a parkway system in Prairie Pointe, and extend north along the west side of Kenaston, linking into the larger active transportation network.
The expansion of the lanes and round about will also solve the current issue of ‘morning back up traffic’ when transit is picking up passengers at the east bound transit stop on Waverley.
*Subdivision and Rezoning:
A total of 152 residential lots, two (2) public streets and two (2) rear public lanes will be created. Of the proposed 152 residential lots, there will be:
- Five (5) lots zoned “RMF-L” Residential Multi-Family (Large), to accommodate
- multi-family dwellings.
- 36 lots zoned “RMF-S” Residential Multi-Family (Small), to accommodate townhouse dwellings.
- 94 lots zoned “R2” Residential Two-Family, to accommodate side-by-side duplex dwellings.
- 17 lots zoned “R1-S” Residential Single-Family (Small), to accommodate single[1]family dwellings.
The expansion cost is covered by the area developer.
