Official Naming of Emeka Nnadi Park

Mr. Nnadi is a Nigerian Immigrant who practiced architecture, urban design and landscape architecture in Nigeria, the United States, and Canada. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in architecture from the Enugu State University of Technology, Nigeria, and earned a Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture and Urban Design from the University of Manitoba, Canada.

Mr. Nnadi is a member of the BIPOC community, and contributes meaningfully to our City through designing, planning, and creating sustainable urban cities focusing on green infrastructure, family friendliness, and healthy living. For the past 18 years, Mr. Nnadi and his firm have been engaged by the Manitoba Housing and Renewal Corporation to design and oversee development of the Neighbourhoods of Bridgwater.  Mr. Nnadi’s life story is an inspiration to the younger generations of the BIPOC community, motivating them to embrace diligent work ethics, best practices and contributing to Canadian society. Naming this park in his honour reflects a commitment by the City of Winnipeg to improve diversity and inclusion while continuing the journey to eliminating discrimination and racism.
