We are in the beginning of June and it looks like we are going to have a hot long summer! All this heat and dryness is creating an unprecedented number of fires and evacuations. Winnipeg is accepting many evacuees and true to form, Winnipeggers are supporting the evacuees in so many ways. South Winnipeg community organizations and elected officials, in partnership with Harvest Manitoba are holding a food drive starting Monday, June 16th and running to Saturday, June 21st . If you are able, we hope you can find some time to drop by and donate some food products (and receive a free ice-cream treat for your donation!)

2025 Road Construction in Waverley West & City Wide
Road construction can be a horrible inconvenience BUT the good news is, we do have $165 million in funding for improvements this year. There is a LOT of construction happening City wide, and much is happening in South Winnipeg. For a detailed overview of what is happening in the Waverley West ward SEE: Road Construction

Congestion-Kenaston, Waverley & Bison Drive
I have a lot of work underway aimed at reducing congestion in our neighbourhood. The public service engineers and consultants are working on studies and reports and actions. I’ll be the first to admit, in my opinion, and I’m no traffic engineer, I think better traffic planning could have occurred prior to adding 40,000+ people to a new neighbourhood! That being said, the neighbourhoods did develop faster than anticipated. I encourage you to review the initiatives in detail, they contain very good data and information:

Canada Day Celebrations in Waverley West
I think our residents throw the BEST Canada Day celebrations and this year we have TWO parties happening! You can start celebrating at 11:00 am at the Bridgwater Lakes Fountain and party all day, then you can move over to Eaglewood Park, and continue celebrating till 8:00 pm. THANK YOU Winnipeg Chinese Senior Association and South Pointe Residents Association for hosting these great events!
