Be A Snow Angel to Someone in Need!

What is a “Snow Angel”? A Snow Angel is an able-bodied volunteer who wants to be a kind, caring neighbour by clearing snow for those who require some assistance.  A Snow Angel generously donates their time and effort to shovelling snow for older adults and people with limited mobility.  Keeping sidewalks free of ice and snow, and driveways shovelled, can be very challenging for these individuals.

Winnipeg is one of the very few cities in Canada to remove snow and ice from every public sidewalk, but often folks need help shovelling their private sidewalks and driveways. I’m currently working with other City Councillors, City Administration, high schools and volunteer organizations to relaunch Winnipeg’s Snow Angel messaging campaign city-wide.  Nothing happens fast at City Hall, but I am optimistic it will be up and running in early 2016.

In the meantime, if it snows in December, and you see a neighbour who needs assistance shovelling snow, please be a Snow Angel and help them out.   Removing snow and ice for a neighbour is a wonderful way to show you care!
