June 13th OPEN HOUSE – YOUR Recreation and Park Priorities

In Southwest Winnipeg, we know there is a recreation deficit and lack of maintenance for our parks and greenspaces due to rapid growth, and a lack of proper planning for new developments. The City of Winnipeg needs to hear from you! I ENCOURAGE you to attend the June 13th Open House at Waverley Heights Community Centre, or fill out the online survey at: https://recandparks.metroquest.ca/

The City of Winnipeg is inviting members of the public to share their input on Winnipeg’s Recreation & Park Strategies and where their priorities lie at upcoming open houses. The Strategies will provide a 25-year framework to help guide recreation and parks programs, services, policies, standards and procedures, and future investment in existing and new infrastructure.

The City is facing difficult challenges in maintaining its aging infrastructure and making new investments to meet future needs. Much of Winnipeg’s existing recreation and parks infrastructure is at or near the end of its useful lifecycle, and we need to find out where Winnipeggers want to see future investment. As Winnipeg continues to grow and change, the need to make strategic, forward-thinking decisions to ensure the City can deliver high-quality recreation and parks services is essential.

I will be attending the June 13th Open House at Waverley Heights Community Centre. Please drop by if you can. Complete details on this City-wide initiative can be found at Winnipeg’s Recreation and Parks Strategies
