Bus Routes are Changing

Winnipeg Transit will be changing existing bus routes  in southwest Winnipeg to coincide with the opening of the Southwest Rapid Transitway (Stage 2) in spring 2020.  The backbone of the Southwest Transitway – will be called the BLUE Line– and will be providing frequent high-speed service between Downtown, the University of Manitoba, and St. Norbert. The BLUE Line will be serviced by 28 new articulated buses that can hold up to 50 percent more passengers than standard buses.

Short feeder bus routes will connect neighborhoods in southwest Winnipeg to the transitway but will not operate on the transitway.  This will enable a higher frequency of service INTO neighbourhoods. Passengers traveling on a feeder route will be required to transfer to the BLUE Line at the transitway. The feeders are neighbourhood-based, and bring passengers to the spine so they can transfer to a high frequency bus. Very frequent buses and modern, heated stations will provide comfortable and efficient transfer experience.

My article here is providing  you with the key points on the PROPOSED route changes – for complete details on the transitway – please see Southwest Transitway Routes

These NEW ROUTES will connect neighbourhoods into the Southwest Transitway. PLEASE NOTE these routes are PROPOSED – and may be changed pending on YOUR FEEDBACK:
