Community Conversations

In 2015, I will be holding a series of ‘Community Conversations’ on relevant topics that directly impact our lives, community and future in south Winnipeg and the St. Norbert Ward. Through these conversations, we will discuss our priorities, what we care about, and uncover new ideas for building a stronger, healthier community.
The Community Conversations series will be an opportunity for residents to meet knowledge specific experts, to ask questions, to learn, to provide suggestions and ideas. The first conversation topic will be on rental housing in and around the University of Manitoba.
Saturday, January 31, 2015 – Community Conversation on Rental Housing
9:00 a.m. registration
9:30 – 11:30 a.m.
Pinnacle Club, Investors Group Stadium
NOTE: Ample Free Parking in front of Pinnacle Club
Many of our communities are within close proximity to the University of Manitoba. As the U of M grows and expands, housing needs for students also increase. The increase in growth and housing is presenting challenges and opportunities to our community. We will have representatives in attendance to discuss by-laws, regulations, existing accommodations and more.
If you are unable to attend on January 31st, we will be preparing a summary and can send it to you upon request; please send your E-Mail address to jlukes@winnipeg.ca if you would like to receive a copy.
Additional Community Conversation topics being scheduled for 2015 include, see our events section for event times & locations:
- Transportation in South Winnipeg, St. Norbert Ward
- Rapid Transit Phase 2
- The Budget, Taxes and City Services
- The Brady Landfill Today and for the Next 100 Years
- Parks and Recreation Facilities in South Winnipeg, St. Norbert Ward
- How Age Friendly is our Community?
The more we understand about our community, the better we can work towards developing a stronger, healthier community. If there is a topic you would like to see as part of the Community Conversation Series, please forward your ideas to me at jlukes@winnipeg.ca
I am currently in the process of developing an E-Mail contact list for purposes of sending out a monthly community update. We would like to include you in this monthly update. If you would prefer not to be included, please E-Mail us at bsawchuk@winnipeg.ca
