Holiday Hours, Christmas Tree Recycling & Free Ride on New Year’s Eve

Holiday Hours
Season’s Greetings! The South Winnipeg-St. Norbert ward office will be closed on Friday, December 23, and will open again on Tuesday, January 3, 2017. My Operations Manager, Bev, and I will be taking a break to spend some time with family and friends over the holidays. If you have a concern or urgent service request, please contact 311. We recommend that you E-Mail 311@winnipeg.ca, as we have found E-Mail turnaround time to be quicker than telephone.
At City Hall, all civic offices are closed at 12 noon on Friday, December 23, and closed all day on Monday, December 26, and Tuesday, December 27, 2016. Civic offices will also be closed on Monday, January 2, 2017.
For operating hours of other City services/facilities during the holiday season, please visit Holiday Season Operating Hours on the City’s website.
Let’s Chip In Christmas Tree Recycling Depots
Recycle your real Christmas tree for free by taking it to one of the Let’s Chip In depots, open December 27, 2016 to January 20, 2017. In the South Winnipeg-St. Norbert ward, you can recycle your tree at two locations:
- Let’s Chip In depot at King’s Park (198 King’s Drive, south parking lot), with operating hours of 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Residents are welcome to help themselves to free wood chips, which will be available at all depots in early January (while quantities last). Please remember to bring your own container
- Real trees can also be dropped off for free recycling at the 4R Winnipeg Depot, 1777 Brady Road, during regular operating hours. Wood chips will not be available at this location.
IMPORTANT: all plastic tree bags, tinsel, lights, decorations and tree stands must be removed before leaving a tree at a depot.
Winnipeg residents recycled 11,802 trees last season. Keeping Christmas trees out of our landfills helps reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions. Residents are reminded that trees placed at the curb next to recycling or garbage carts will not be collected. For more details, visit City of Winnipeg – Let’s Chip In or contact 311 (24 hours a day, 7 days a week) by phone or by email at 311@winnipeg.ca.
Take a Free Ride on Transit on New Year’s Eve
