Traffic Study – Marrington Road and Kirbridge Park

I received many calls to see if City engineers could improve pedestrian safety when accessing Kirkbridge Park. Marrington Road is a ‘cut through’ and has high volumes of traffic. Because of the park, many residents walk across the street to access it. On the east side of Marrington Road are single-family residences on bays and cul-de-sacs that connect to Marrington Road, and a church. On the west side of Marrington Road are the Southpark Estates retirement home and Kirkbridge Park, which has walking paths, baseball diamonds, soccer fields, and other recreational areas.
On November 13, 2018, I moved a motion to have the Winnipeg Public Service conduct a traffic study to determine if speed tables are warranted on Marrington Road to calm traffic at pedestrian access points to Kirkbridge Park.
On September 12, 2019, the Public Service produced a report (see Full report) which determined that the conditions of the road warranted the installation of speed tables.
June 1, 2020 UPDATE:
The Public Service will be installing speed tables in Summer 2020.
