New Commercial Development coming to South Pointe

Some exciting news for South Pointe – Prairie Pointe and our surrounding neighbourhoods!
Many residents are familiar with the large field on the northeast corner of Waverley Street and Kenaston Boulevard.
This parcel of land is zoned ‘C3’ which means Commercial Corridor (C3)
- A Commercial Corridor (C3) zoned district is intended primarily for uses that provide commercial goods and services to residents of the community in areas that are dependent on automobile access. C3 districts are generally located in community or regional mixed use centres.
On December 2nd the Assiniboia Community Committee (where I represent local ward issues for Waverley West) held a public hearing for the proposed subdivision of the large field on the northeast corner of Waverley Street and Kenaston Boulevard.
The subdivision was approved by the committee. Ladoc Company Ltd, owners of the land, intends to create eleven (11) lots and two (2) new public streets.
Now – what business they plan to lease to on those lots is not know yet, but I’m very optimistic good things are coming!
Ladco also owns the two large strip malls on South Pembina; the Richmond West Plaza (where Planet Fitness, and Liquor store are located) and the Fort Richmond Plaza across the street (where Peavey Mart & Sobeys are located).
Approval of this subdivision means road construction can start this summer, and once roads are in, commercial buildings will follow!
