Traffic Calming at Ecole South Pointe School

Ecole South Pointe School is over capacity with students. On the other hand, a new elementary school will not be constructed and available for occupancy for a minimum of 2.5 years. And the pedestrian and vehicular traffic surrounding Ecole South Pointe School continues to increase.

Therefore, on June 22, 2020, I moved a motion directing the Winnipeg Public Service to study, and install if warranted, two raised pedestrian crosswalks on Kirkbridge Drive in front of Ecole South Pointe School.

On July 7, 2020, the Standing Policy Committee on Infrastructure Renewal and Public Works concurred in the recommendation of the Assiniboia Community Committee and directed the Winnipeg Public Service to report back to its February, 2021 meeting on the following:

1- Studying, and installing if warranted, appropriate pedestrian crossing infrastructure on Kirkbridge Drive in front of Ecole South Pointe School

After an extension 240 days, on November 5, 2021, the Standing Policy Committee on Infrastructure Renewal and Public Works
concurred in the recommendation of the Winnipeg Public Service and received the report as information. See the full report : Pedestrian Crosswalks on Kirkbridge Drive
