Transit Changes coming to Routes 678 and 679

Beginning September 6, 2026 Winnipeg Transit will introduce changes to Routes 678 and 679 aimed at improving service reliability and making travel to the University of Manitoba easier for riders. According to Transit, the updates are designed to reduce congestion at the main U of M terminal, simplify routing and ease pressure on the Blue Line.

As part of the changes, Route 678 will travel along University Crescent, while Route 679 will be rerouted to Chancellor Drive instead of Abinojii Mikanah. The revised routing is expected to create more direct service patterns and improve traffic flow around one of the city’s busiest transit hubs.

Transit riders are encouraged to review the proposed route maps and plan ahead before the September implementation date.
