Sledding Continues at Scurfield Park!

I’m very pleased to ensure that sledding will continue on the beloved hill in Scurfield Park!  Thank you to the residents who spoke up and advocated to keep this great sledding hill for years to come!

Sometime in January 2023, the City of Winnipeg Park Department decided to install a ‘no sledding’  sign on the sledding hill in the park.  This sledding hill has existed since the community of Whyte Ridge was developed some 40 years ago! It has been and continues to be a loved hill by many generations of families.

I put forth a motion (Snow Clearing on Scurfield Park Pathway) to direct the Winnipeg Public Service to cease snow clearing from the portion of the active transportation pathway in Scurfield Park which intersects the sledding hill during winter months in 2024, and annually thereafter – thereby allowing sledding to continue.  I’d like to thank the member of the Standing Policy Committee for their common sense by supporting my motion to allow sledding.
